Band 1 - $62,087 pro rata ($31.42 per hour) + 11.5% superannuation

About the Role:

Council’s Social Support Program provides older residents the opportunity to socialise in a group environment and enjoy lunch together. We are seeking a caring and empathetic kitchen assistant to plate and serve refreshments and meals to participants at our Leila Road Activity Centre.

You will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining kitchen facilities to a high standard of cleanliness
  • Serving meals and refreshments in accordance with food safety requirements
  • Serving meals and refreshments in accordance with the program timetable
  • Working in compliance with Council and Bayside Care and Support policies and procedures. 

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

  • An understanding of the needs of older people and people with a disability
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work individually and within a team
  • A current Food Handling Certificate is desirable or willingness to obtain after commencement
  • A current First Aid Certificate is required (or willingness to obtain after commencement)

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

  • Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
  • Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check 
  • Be fully vaccinated with at least two approved COVID-19 vaccines or have proof of medical exemption
  • Be willing to undertake a pre-employment functional capacity evaluation.
