About Us:

We are a passionate organisation, connected in our shared goal to be ‘sector leading’ in all that we do for the community and each other. Home to over 100,000 residents, Bayside City Council's enduring purpose is building extraordinary places, thriving communities, and better futures.

Bayside Council is an equal-opportunity employer committed to providing an accessible and safe working environment that embraces and values child safety, diversity, and inclusion. Our organisational strategy is made up of three priorities and we consider these in everything we do: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Customer Experience and Results Matter.

We want everyone to be as proud of what we are achieving – and excited about our future – as we are, and we are committed to working together to achieve this.

Our Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Property professional to join our dynamic and energetic team. In this role you will deliver complex property projects, negotiate, secure, and manage commercial and community leases as well as provide technical advice to the rest of the team and across the organisation. This role involves working closely with the Property Coordinator, Senior Leaders, other Council teams, tenants and external stakeholders, all within the requirements of the Local Government Act and Crown Land Reserves Act. You will need to balance competing demands and focus on maximising the benefits to the community.

To be successful in this role

This is not your average property role and we are not looking for your average property professional. Your technical skills in portfolio management, lease and licence preparation, experience in the Local Government context and your collaborative working style will help you succeed in this role. If you can meet most or all of the requirements in the Key Selection Criteria, then we want to hear from you.

Key Selection Criteria

  • A qualification in Property, Real Estate or another related field.
  • At least five years’ experience in the delivery of property services, preferably in a local or State government context.
  • An understanding of local government processes is preferred, and the ability to deliver property related tasks and projects within those processes.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to produce high quality written reports.
  • A working style that supports the professional development and technical skills of team members.
  • Demonstrated experience in building collaborative working relationships within a team, across the organisation, and with external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

What we can offer you in return:

  • A work life/balance through flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
  • Generous leave provisions, including accrued time off, parental leave, three days of wellbeing leave per year, cultural and ceremonial leave, gender affirmation leave, plus the ability to purchase up to four weeks additional leave per year.
  • Dedicated Staff Wellbeing programs, events and gym membership discounts.
  • Learning and development opportunities so our people can grow and thrive.
  • A Parkland surrounded office that is only short 500m stroll to the beach.
  • Free onsite staff parking plus hybrid vehicles that employees can book for work related travel.

If you are ready to be part of our incredible organisation, and you think this role is the right fit for you, then we look forward to finding out more about you and what you would bring to this role.
