Employment Status: 1 x permanent position and 1 x fixed term parental leave cover until 30 September 2027
Days & Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 38 hours per week with requirement for participation in regular rostered weekend patrols. Rostered day off every four weeks
Competitive Salary:  From 5A $86,360.35 pro rata + 12% superannuation
Vehicle: Commuter use vehicle included (permanent position). Vehicle available from January 2027 for fixed term position.

Our Opportunity:

Local Laws is looking for a Local Laws Officer to contribute to the safety and amenity of the municipality. This role will contribute to the safety and amenity of the municipality through the provision of information, assistance and advice to the community, and through the enforcement of relevant legislation.

About the role:

The successful applicant will join the Local Laws team which is a team of 10 officers plus Team Leader. This role’s duties include:

• Investigating complaints
• Undertaking inspections and audits
• Impounding animals
• Issuing infringements
• Preparing briefs of evidence

To be successful in this role:

• Certificate IV Statutory Compliance or Diploma of Justice or similar qualification will be considered
• Strong customer service focus, with well-developed verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities
• Self-motivator with well-developed conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
• Experience in enforcement or willing to learn related regulatory fields, to confidently educate and enforce Councils legislation responsibilities

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

• Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check
• Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check 
• A valid Victorian driving licence
• Be willing to undertake a premedical assessment check (if applicable for the role)
