Days & Hours of Work: 5 days totalling 38 hours per week. Some after-hours work will be required for Time In Lieu
Competitive Salary: Band 6 - $92,967 to $101,435 p.a (dependent on experience) + 11% superannuation
Location: Corporate Centre in Sandringham, with the flexibility to work from home

About the Role:

We are searching for a customer focused, digital communications champion who wants to make a difference to our community.

The Digital Communications Officer is responsible for overseeing Council’s digital communications including creating and sharing engaging content for social media, digital marketing, email communications, paid digital advertising and other channels. You will have a passion for online community management and keeping across the latest trends and technologies. You’ll also use data and reporting to drive best practice.

This role is a pivotal member of our high performing, collaborative and creative communications team. Reporting into the External Communications and Media Coordinator, the role will tap in to your passion for creating captivating content, talent for managing stakeholders and genuine enthusiasm for online community management.

You will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to the implementation of the Bayside External Communications Strategy, particularly via digital channels.
  • Coordinating Bayside City Council’s social media and digital communications channels.
  • Building and develop excellent working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Contributing to effective management of risks to Council’s reputation.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

  • Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and manage multiple priorities autonomously.
  • Ability to research, develop and create engaging content for multiple digital channels such as social media and enewsletters and across written, visual, video and other media.
  • Desire to contribute to a high performing, passionate communications team.
  • Interest in local government.
  • Tertiary qualifications and/ or demonstrated skills/experience in developing and implementing public relations, marketing, communications strategies and campaigns.
  • Comprehensive understanding of social media platforms and confidence in management, monitoring and planning tools, i.e. Brandwatch, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite.

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

  • Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
  • Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check.
