Competitive Salary: Band 6 - $105,907.09 pro-rata + 12% superannuation.

About the Role:

The Coastal Planning and Project Officer is responsible for the planning and delivery of strategic coastal projects, policies, and initiatives that support the resilience and accessibility of Bayside's coast and foreshore. The role balances the diverse needs of residents and visitors who value the foreshore as a key contributor to Bayside's liveability, recreation, and natural environment.

This role sits in the Open Space and Recreation Department, City Services Division and reports directly to Coordinator Open Space and Environment.

You will be responsible for:

• Coastal strategies, policies and plans are developed, reviewed and implemented in alignment with relevant legislation, Council priorities and best practice coastal management principles.
• Strategic coastal projects and initiatives are delivered effectively, achieving agreed scope, time, budget, quality and stakeholder outcomes.
• Community and stakeholder engagement supports informed decision-making, builds trust and contributes to improved project and policy outcomes.
• Strong partnerships are maintained with government agencies, Traditional Owners, community groups, regional organisations and industry stakeholders to advance Council objectives.
• Coastal risks, emerging issues and opportunities are identified and proactively managed to support the long-term resilience of Bayside's coast and foreshore.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, natural resource management, planning, engineering or a related field.
• Experience leading strategic planning or policy initiatives in coastal, environmental or natural asset management settings.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while meeting deadlines and organisational objectives.
• Demonstrated experience in community engagement, facilitation and stakeholder consultation 

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

• Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
• Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check.
