About the Role:

Reporting to the Director Environment, Recreation and Infrastructure, this role leads the delivery of services in the areas of integrated transport and traffic, waste, and environmental sustainability. Experienced in leading a high performing multi-disciplinary team, you will facilitate a positive team culture to deliver on key outcomes for the circular economy, waste reform and active transport.  

The role will build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Councillors and government departments, to enhance collaboration and create partnership opportunities. A key component of the role is also to act as a project sponsor for several transport infrastructure projects to ensure great community outcomes.

To thrive in this position, you will need:

  • Proven experience in senior leadership roles that have delivered change and improvement to organisational performance.
  • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams to achieve excellence, coaching to build and develop team capabilities, and the ability to create an environment where staff feel involved, valued, and clear on shared goals.
  • An ability to build and sustain strong relationships with key agencies, other government departments and stakeholders within a complex government environment and with political astuteness that support excellent outcomes for community.
  • A customer focused mindset with the ability to deliver outcome-based projects for the community as well as manage day-to-day service delivery.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a discipline related to the service areas. Leadership qualifications will be highly regarded.

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

  • Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
  • Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check.
