Competitive Salary: $133,367.11 to $149,592.80 p.a. depending on experience (+ 12% superannuation)
Location: Corporate Centre in Sandringham, with the flexibility to work from home

About the Role:

An exciting permanent opportunity has become available to join the Climate, Waste and Integrated Transport Department as the Coordinator Transport Safety and Engineering. The role coordinates transport safety and traffic management services and systems that meet the needs of Council and the community through the provision of sustainable, safe, well-connected, accessible, and convenient traffic and transport options that positively contribute to a strong economy, the health and wellbeing of the community and a low carbon future.

The role provides leadership to the Transport Safety and Engineering Team and gains their commitment to operate in a culture of safety first, and the achievement of successful outcomes with quality principles, customer focus and compliance with legislation, regulations and policies.

You will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating the provision of technical advice and information to the broader organisation and residents on relevant transport safety and traffic management matters.
  • Leading and supporting team members in the implementation of high quality traffic management systems and outcomes.
  • Developing and managing transport related operational and capital budgets, and assisting in the delivery of capital works, including through the provision and coordination of accurate technical information to other teams.
  • Providing concise, accurate and well written reports, and concise and well-structured verbal presentations, to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

  • A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Traffic Management or equivalent Engineering qualification recognised by the Institution of Engineers, Australia and diverse experience in transport and traffic or civil engineering.
  • Extensive experience in the traffic engineering field or relevant industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people, to ensure they have the capability to deliver on their accountabilities, are motivated, and are highly engaged.
  • Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge and commitment to implement Occupational Health and Safety practices and Equal Opportunity principles. 

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

  • Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
  • Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check. 
  • A valid Victorian driving licence.
